Caprock Canyons State Park, located in the Texas Panhandle near Quitaque, covers over 15,000 acres of rugged terrain featuring red sandstone canyons, grasslands, and mesas. The park is home to the official Texas State Bison Herd, which roams freely, and offers more than 90 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Visitors can explore sites like the historic Clarity Tunnel, an abandoned railroad structure now inhabited by bats, along with opportunities for camping, fishing in Lake Theo, and wildlife observation including prairie dogs and birds.
