Channel Islands National Park, off the coast of Southern California, encompasses five islands—Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, Anacapa, San Miguel, and Santa Barbara—plus the surrounding ocean waters. Accessible primarily by boat from Ventura or Oxnard, it features rugged terrain with sea caves, steep cliffs, and endemic species like the island fox and Channel Islands scrub jay. Visitors can hike trails, kayak coastal waters, snorkel amid kelp forests, and explore archaeological sites from Chumash Native American habitation, while the park preserves a largely undisturbed ecosystem isolated for millennia.
