Spur of the moment decision at the multicultural festival - a henna artist 48 years in the business, she was only charging $15 to paint such a beautiful design ... Not long afterwards it struck me that this was perhaps the kind of cultural appropriation I should not be undertaking, particularly without understanding the significance of the design. Am somewhat ashamed at my ignorance, certainly it got me thinking and discussing with a number of friends - I will certainly give something like this more thought next time.
