With the help of my son we cooked up a Korean meal. Fried Chicken, BBQ Short Ribs and Kimchi Fried Rice. He had to drive over an hour to pick up some of the ingredients (our town doesn’t carry many foreign ingredients or specialty foods). He also picked up Plum Wine, Chum Churum (a yogurt drink that is sooo yummy) and Yuzu & Lime (think of a Tom Collins with Sake, it will now be one of my summer drinks). I was expecting the heat to be overwhelming but it was a nice heat that danced on your tongue. It was well worth the effort. I also did a takeaway plate for my nephew. His words were “That food is literally the best I’ve ever had. When are you opening up a restaurant”. I would count this as a huge success.
I decided to create a Korean Dinner. However, it’s been a challenge to find gochujang paste.
