The parents came over for dinner today. My husband smoked some meat and we had sandwiches, and they came over to say hello to my daughter who is in town from college. They stayed less than an hour....I am so aggravated. This does not count for the bucketlist item though, but it might be a step in the right direction.......
So guess what....Mom and Dad stooped by today to visit...ON THEIR WAY TO DINNER! What? Well maybe there is still a chance for this....
So I did bring up the topic of going to lunch on their anniversary with my mother, who declined again, saying my dad had a job in the morning (he does yard work for people) and then they would be relaxing that day so not to make plans. I am super super super upset with her about all of this because I have no idea what the f is her problem. I think she really is just tired because of dealing with my sister/ drama, and doesn't really like to go out, so I am trying to be respectful and understanding. But I am pissed. This woman has become somewhat of a recluse and I am never going to mark this silly item off my bucket list. I know she isn't mad at me because she has been texting me pictures of her flowers and stuff. I do not know what her problem is but I'm not taking this off the list yet....
So my mom must have gotten the hint that I am upset with her for not wanting to ever go out. She texted me yesterday saying that her golden anniversary is later this month (which I knew). I suggested (jokingly) that I would throw her a party. She said "Nooooo! No party!!! But maybe we can meet you for lunch." Hmmm. I think I will send a card. Unless she brings it up again....
So my mom decided she wants to do dinner at her house instead of going out to eat. I am not sure what her problem is, but at least we aren't arguing any more. I am bringing cake. My mom is old and is getting weird about going out. So I am keeping this goal on the list for now but not optimistic it will happen....
This one is going to be harder than expected! I am angry at my mom right now. It is a long story, but she is elderly now and she seems to be having a bit of agoraphobia. She won't do anything anymore. I suppose it isn't really her fault because people's brains change as they age. I am having a hard time with this, because we used to be best friends. She used to be so fun. So she declined my invitation to go out to dinner on her birthday....I am going to keep trying, but not more than one more time, and then I will back off. This time I'm just going to send her flowers for her birthday which is a different bucket list item.
2/9/20: Parents visited and we went to Cammack Station with Makenna.
9/28/19: Dad and I went to Yat's! He got jambalaya. I got gumbo.
Took my parents out for my Dad's birthday.
Mum out for her birthday, Dad out for fathers day
Yesterday I took my mom out for dinner (No dad anymore so she counts for both parents). We had a lovely time, she enjoyed she did not have to cook.
Done! May 10/14 for Mother's Day
You know that saying "Sometimes the apple doesn't fall far from the tree"? Sometimes I think that someone took this particular apple and flung it as far from the tree as they could.
