We've been planning to go skating for a couple of weeks now, but we didn't have the shoes before. My mom finally bought shoes for the whole family (herself, my dad, my brother and I) and decided we should go skating today. I woke up around 11:30AM (that's pretty early for winter break), ate breakfast and we went off to Greenwood Park, which, thank goodness, is wonderfully close to my house - only, like, 4 blocks away from my house (about a 5 to 10 minute walk). Anyway, we went into the skating rink and there were already tons of people (we arrived at 12:30-ish). It seems like the skating rink is a pretty popular hang out. There were lots of kids on the smaller rink and a hoard of hockey players in the bigger rink. We got strapped into our shoes and stood wobbly-ly (my own word, haha) on our feet and set off for the ice. I was surprisingly good and I barely fell at all (only 3 times and it didn't hurt all too much), although I was scared someone was going to crash into me, send my sprawling and slice my fingers off with their skates... haha. My dad, who's pretty good at skating, taught me and my mom, who knows how to skate on those four wheeled roller blades, kept her normal shoes on at first and helped guide my brother and I around the track. Later, when my brother and I were both pretty good, she laced up her skates and came onto the ice too. All in all, we skated for 4 hours and just as we were leaving, we saw Sally, Rachel Luu, Eugenia and Aliyah coming in to skate. After skating, we decided to go to a buffet (I am so sick of buffets but my dad loves them so *shrugs*) in Eglinton Town Center, next to CineplexOdeon called Imperial Buffet. It was an awesome day and spending time with my family was the best part!
