PROGRESS UPDATE

When we bought Lily, my son's tarantula, four years ago for his seventh birthday, I held her to check she was healthy and placid in temperament. We don't touch her as a rule, however, as we consider it cruel to handle tarantulas; they don't enjoy it, they don't get anything out of it, and a drop of 18" can kill them so we won't take the risk. Tarantulas are 'watching' pets. If you want something to cuddle, you're better off with rats!
