The Walled City of Baku is the historic core of Azerbaijan’s capital, enclosed by medieval defensive walls that date back centuries. Its narrow, winding streets contain a mix of preserved structures including the Palace of the Shirvanshahs, the Maiden Tower, and numerous mosques, caravanserais, and bathhouses. The area also features residential buildings from later periods that reflect successive layers of occupation and architectural influence.
